We just photographed the Skyview Lady Falcons volleyball team last evening. We’re so excited about this team – what a great bunch of athletes. They’re off to a great start this season and we’re eager to follow their games this fall. Mark your calendar for the Pack the Place in Pink event on October 15. The Lady Falcons will play against the West High Lady Bears in a contest to raise money for breast cancer. We’ll be photographing that event again this year and it’s always a packed gym and a fun night for a great cause.
Ric recently met Nathan at Rocky’s pool and took some amazing pictures of him swimming and diving. He’s such a great guy and awesome athlete.
We met two beautiful seniors this week and had a lot of fun photographing them.
Krista is a lifeguard at the Oasis this summer. She was suntanned and had a sparkly personality.
Tiana came in yesterday when it was so hot, but she hung in there and Ric took some stunning shots of her – indoors and out!
People love variety – it’s the spice of life. And this week at ZPD, we had an amazing variety of personalities in the seniors that we shot. Ric was able to get to know these awesome seniors and give them portraits that reflect their uniqueness. Check it out:
With today’s technology, cameras are better and easier than they’ve ever been. Consequently, many people with a good quality camera and an interest in photography are taking pictures of families, weddings and seniors. Unfortunately, not all photographers with a good camera create professional quality portraiture. They do not light properly (resulting in flat faces and washed-out backgrounds) or watch for expressions that really capture the client. The finished product then looks like a snapshot rather than a professional portrait. Before you make an appointment for a portrait of any kind, ask yourself if this occasion is important enough to hire a professional or if you can get by with a snapshot. Is a snapshot “good enough” for your special event or milestone in your life? At Zimmerman’s Portrait Designs, we think snapshots are great for vacations and Facebook! But when you want a portrait you will love and enjoy for many, many years, you need a professional photographer.
I’m posting several portraits Ric did this summer that really showcase his expertise in lighting and expression. Compare these to other photographer’s work and you’ll see the difference for yourself.
Our new sales room and Z Gallery at Zimmerman’s Portrait Designs is beautiful! We want you to come in and see our artwork in this exciting new room. We are currently featuring both fine art selections and high school seniors and are showing canvas wraps, torn edge prints, metallic prints and framed images.
Ric and I just got back from a few relaxing days in Grand Teton National Park. World class beauty just hours away! How lucky we are to live so close. We were hiking up above Jenny Lake and stopped to watch this black bear eating berries. He was so interested in eating I don’t think he knew he was being photographs. Very fun. These fantastic images are available for purchase from our fine arts department.
First of all, I want to give a big shout out to our Relay for Life team, Z’s Bees, and our incredible team captain, Cathy Beuchler, for a fun and successful year. Our team of 17 members raised over$13,000! Ric and I got involved in Relay because my mom died of lung cancer. I felt drawn to be with other cancer families, and do my part to find a cure. It’s a wonderful and very emotional event for me every year.
We are hot (literally) and heavy into our high school senior portrait season. I know I’m not objective, but Ric just gets better and better. His expertise in lighting and getting expressions is what makes his work stand out from the “snapshot” style of photography. In addition to downtown and the Yellowstone River, Ric has photographed kids in Zimmerman’s Park on the Rims this summer, and the pictures look very Billings – very awesome. We also photograph the families of our seniors and want everyone to know that our annual Family Portrait Day is September 21st.
Finally, we are just putting the finishing touches on two big projects – this new website and the remodeling of our sales room – yeah! We took out a wall to create more wall space for showing off our portraits and also our fine art. It was designed by Amber and Lisa at Design Supply by Moss Home and has a real edgy, industrial look. I know everyone will love it and the way it showcases our beautiful photography. I’ll have a picture of it in next week’s blog, so in the meantime, make sure you check out our Fine Arts Gallery on the brand new website. (Note the new address: www.zpdmt.com. We wanted people to find us with as little typing as possible and with a name like Zimmerman, it took us awhile. The old address works, too.)
